Each year, the Tänzelfest kicks off with a vibrant Opening Ceremony, inviting visitors to join in the festivities. The ceremony always includes an ecumenical blessing for children.
A dynamic theatre performance featuring music and dance introduces the new theme that changes annually. Participants from various Kaufbeurer clubs—musicians, singers, and dancers—make the event lively.

A longstanding tradition is the debut of the specially composed “Tänzelfest Fanfare” during the opening. After the Lord Mayor officially opens the Tänzelfest, guests can enjoy a relaxed drink together in friendly company.

For many years, it has also been a tradition for a specially composed “Tänzelfest Fanfare” to be premiered during the ceremony.

After the Lord Mayor has officially declared the Tänzelfest open, there is, of course, still time for a relaxed drink together in good company.
